“share your christmas” canned food drive
thank you, to everyone that is participating in the canned food drive. the deadline to donate is thursday, december 10. students that donate 5 cans or more will receive a civilian day on wednesday, december 16.
½ day dismissal times for thursday, december 17:
k3 & k4 will dismiss following their Christmas parties.
k5 dismisses at 11:15
1st - 5th dismiss at 11:30
students staying for after school care must bring a noncarbonated drink and lunch.
bbs dress code reminder
jackets: • any jacket is allowed for outside wear. • only plain navy, gray, chambray (light) blue, royal blue or black jackets may be worn in class. • no non-bbs logos larger than a credit card.
please remember to label all jackets, coats, sweaters and sweatshirts. labeled items will be returned to their owner.

2nd grade overview
bible: our next memory test is on tuesday, december 8. “you will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you. trust in the lord forever, for the lord, the lord himself, is the rock eternal.” isaiah 26:3-4
math: we will be learning about adding 2-digit numbers with sums greater than 100, measuring and drawing line segments, subtracting 10 from 2-digit numbers, and using base ten blocks to order and identify numbers.
facts to know: all addition facts and subtracting -2. use homework pages to help your child practice all math facts learned so far. make sure you are checking their math homework and paying attention to any areas of need.
**tests: there will be no math tests this week.
reading: We will finish up our F&F unit on Story Structure.
please have your child study the skills (pattern statement and process questions) and vocabulary words. use the process questions as part of your book discussions at home. focus on asking your child how the main character tried to reach their goal or solve their problem.
**tests: the story structure tests will be on december 10-11. the performance task will be on thursday, december 10th and the skills and vocabulary tests will be on friday, december 11th (please study at home for these).
spelling/phonics: we will be working on unit #14 in spelling connections.
**test: the spelling test for unit #14 will be on friday, december 11th.
language/writing: students will be practicing “how to” writing and learning to use transitional words.
